No Ear Has Heard

"What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no mind has conceived – the things God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Cor. 2:9

May Flowers

We celebrated some more mother’s day this past week on the Mexican Mother’s Day which is always 5/10. Anabel made several things at preschool she was very proud of. We went out to eat and got caught in some traffic we hadn’t been in before. It was a cultural experience that showed us something else we hadn’t really noticed before. 🙂 The traffic we got stuck in was on the street that goes by the city graveyard. The flower vendors were taking up more of the street than on usual days as apparently everyone who has lost their mother goes to the graveyard to take flowers to the grave on mother’s day. It makes sense! But I didn’t really think about this phenomenon. So we got to watch for quite a while as the traffic slowly creeped through the crowded street.

the crown and the card were both mother’s day presents 🙂 along with a picture frame she also made

We had a send off service this week for our friends David and Christin who have been members and leaders helping out at the church the last 2 years. It was nice for people to have a chance to thank them for all they’ve done and the connections they’ve made. We pray their efforts and the seeds they planted would continue to bring fruit in this community.

praying and blessing their next step!

Worship practice doesn’t always look like it does above, but when it does I get some chills! We still need some help in the percussion section. As in we need the Father to send us someone who wants to be a part of serving in this way and putting in the time to practice. 🙂 But it’s really exciting to see new vocalists and guitar players moving along. Jorge, pictured here has been working on learning guitar for about a year, mostly from Eduardo, who Stephen taught. He has been around from the first days of the church plant when he was a kid who would come to the children’s feeding. It’s been neat to see him grow, and see this gifting God is blessing him with.

Other fun facts…we are in the driest part of the year here in Zacatecas. Our daily humidity average has been about 10% or lower. In June and especially July there will be lots of rainy days. But by May it has been dry for about 8 months with only 1-2 good rains in those months. This semi-desert climate is like that and this is the warmest month we have. Joel woke up with a nose bleed this week, I’m guessing due to the dryness. We added a humidifier in the kids’ room. Temps only get up to the mid 80s in May which isn’t too bad without A/C. The concrete houses do seem to hold some warmth from the strong sun, but as soon as it starts raining things will cool off again. We often get our sweatshirts out in July!
